How big is hockey in the States?
Do you have suitable rinks with proper spectator seating?
How many clubs do you have? How separated are the clubs?
How often do you compete? |

Thanks for the links, but unfortunately they weren't very helpful.
Could anyone else answer my questions? |

As far I am concerned RH in the US of A is reduced to a few pockets of it. Some or most players actually are ice-hockey or in-line skaters who also play RH. Their leagues are similar to our ND1 - day meetings and not actually a whole league like in European Countries.
Their level is like England - up and down from A to Bs.
In Portugal we use to say that until the USA took it seriously RH will not be Olympic Sport. _________________ for Roller Hockey issues you may call me on 07850593239 |

Agreed with almost everything Ismael said, except for the ice-hockey/in-line skaters part. Pockets yet, no league like Euro Countries, level is between A and B, and I too believe the USA is the stop gap in making our sport a permanent Olympic sport.
As for the skaters, most are born and raised on quads playing rink hockey. Some have come over from inline/ice at a young age and converted into highly skilled rink hockey players. Unfortunately, the rate of born and raised is significantly dropped and so have our overall numbers. (Crossing fingers that the rebirth of Roller Derby will help to spark our rebirth - cross training is a beautiful thing.) |
