It appears there is a myth around that referees can see through things. I would like to remind people that hockey players are solid objects and cant be seen through.
I would also like to point out that starting your argument with 'you should be able to see through things' will get you laughed at. That is all. _________________ Karl Wilson

Karl;- Have you not learned anything yet!!!
What you have to do is stand next to the relavant Team Coach as he sees everything and does not miss a thing |

On the matter I have something to say. Do not stand by the coach as Stuart suggests.
The reason why refs miss so much, has to do with positioning and match reading.
Once Derek told me that one can only blow to what ones see. Correct, but can a ref see more if he/she adopts a better position. If he/she can read the game a bit better. If he/she can have a wider vision of the half.
My answer is YES, and that's obtained with training and experience. In the same way it is a mistake for a defender to ball watch, the same applies to the ref.
I don't know the rules as a ref does, but one thing I can say, based on observation: refs can improve their game by improving their positioning. _________________ for Roller Hockey issues you may call me on 07850593239 |

Joking aside though, some refs do actually seem to read the game and blow for what they think they saw, rather than what they actually saw.
But, again I have to say that refs are not infallible, and will make mistakes. We play a bloody fast game, and things will be missed and mistaken. That is one reason why I have no desire to ref. I do not think I can process what I see fast enough to make the decision that we seem to always criticise refs for making. _________________ Daz3210 Wedding Photography & Portraits |

Well that makes you sound like an arsehole then!
Why should refs not have to be trained? _________________ Daz3210 Wedding Photography & Portraits |
